A Chicago pizza chain is planting its first location in Minneapolis. Giordano's, beloved in its hometown for its deep-dish pizza, is moving into new retail space at 2700 Hennepin Ave. The news was first reported by the Southwest Journal. Nolan Properties Group constructed the building on the site of an old gas station in 2013, said Monica Smith, coordinator of the East Isles Residents Association. Smith said the association received word of Giordano's plans on Sept. 8. The pizza chain could not be reached for comment. The full restaurant will accommodate up to 109 diners, Smith said, including a 16-seat bar serving wine and spirits. If all goes well, the pizzeria will open in spring of 2015.
