Veterans' Grave Markers Go Missing
This is one of the saddest things we've seen lately. Each military veterans' grave is marked with a bronze marker. There has been a recent trend where thieves had been going around taking the markers from cemeteries. There is now pressure to move markers to homes, rather than cemeteries, but to have to do this would be a sad reflection on the community. It appears as if they are stealing the stars for scrap metal but it is truly disappointing because they really do not have much intrinsic value, and instead they are taking away something of great sentimental value from the families of the departed.
